  • Letterbox Club showcased at achievement awards for looked after children

At Bassaleg High School in Newport, Wales, a special awards ceremony celebrated the achievements of Looked After Children.

70 children were presented with awards and the event was attended by 150 staff, foster carers, teachers and councillors, as well as the Mayor and lady Mayor. Two of the children took on the role of comperes for the evening, doing a tremendous job!

The event was organised by Newport City Council, who have been successfully delivering the Letterbox Club for a number of years. Letterbox Club parcels were showcased for children and foster carers to see.

'It was lovely to see the older children coming to look at the books and saying how they loved receiving their packs.' Wendy Hoskins, Letterbox Club Coordinator.

Awards were presented by the Mayor of Newport City Council, and there was singing and music to start proceedings with performances from Bassaleg Junior Choir and senior band. Bassaleg High School were thrilled to host the Newport Achievement Awards.
