Read about what we do and why we do it
If your local authority has enrolled your foster child onto the Letterbox Club programme they will receive a variety of books, simple games and stationery items to use and keep for themselves.
- Story books by authors such as Jacqueline Wilson, Michael Morpurgo, Francesca Simon
- Illustrated non-fiction books looking at a wide range of subjects
- Some simple maths games (these may need the help of the foster carer or an older child to set up)
- Stationery items, such as felt tips, calculator, pens etc to encourage writing and drawing.
Your foster child will receive their first parcel in May of the year that they join and then once every month for six months with the last parcel arriving in October.
If the child moves placement (or returns to their birth family) during this time the parcel will be sent to their new address until the end of the programme.
Your foster child may be tested in school in relation to this project as part of a national research programme.
We hope that your foster child enjoys being part of the Letterbox Club.
